Peace out!

My third blog post will go deeper into the religion that is Islam. As usual, this is the only ”true” religion there is. It was founded in the 7th century CE, and like the other two Abrahamic religions, it’s a monotheistic one. Consisting of many religious denominations, Islam has 70% of the world’s Muslims in the Sunni group, 20% in Shi’a and the last 10% remaining minorities and sects. Muslims believe that the Qur’an was the ”revealed word of God” and transmitted through the angel ’Gabriel’ to the final prophet of God, namely Muhammad. They do not believe Jesus is the son of God, but an important prophet nonetheless. As a precursor to Muhammad, he’s helping to prepare the world for the “final revelation”. Yet, Jesus would be attending his second coming only to burn to death as the result of anyone who worshiped him as a God, because Islam is the only true religion… Jihad anyone?

Islam means, in Arabic, ”submission”, as in ”submission to God” to be specific. It also descends from the etymological root word Salaam, which means “peace”, thus a Muslim could be described as, in a nutshell; “one who has submitted to (or made peace with) God.” This is purely a naïve distinction, one that many succumb to. Further into my post, you will learn why Islam isn’t that black and white.

Shari’a Law

Shari’a means “path to the watering hole”. This is the sacred law of Islam. Muslims believe that it’s derived from two primary sources, the divine revelations in the Qur’an, and the sayings set forth by Muhammad. Shari’a differs in detail if described in Sunni or Shi’a perspectives, but the topics of Shari’a Law can be divided into five main branches:

  • Ritual worship
  • Transactions and contracts
  • Morals and manners
  • Beliefs
  • Punishments

Unlike secular laws, these contents are based from religious teachings and what the Holy Qur’an states to be a good moral high ground. In Islam, the death penalty is deemed suitable for two groups of crime:

  • “Intentional murder, in these cases the victim’s family is given the option to whether insist on a punishment of this severity.”
  • “Spreading mischief in the land” permits the death penalty for anyone who threatens to undermine authority or destabilise the state.”

This is just an excellent recipe for disaster, an unstable and ignorant guide-book with delusions of moral superiority! Let me go a little deeper into what is concidered an appropriate crime (or “spreading mischief in the land”) in countries using Shari’a Law to justify death. Generally speaking, these are:

  • Treason/ Apostasy
  • Terrorism
  • Piracy of any kind
  • Rape
  • Adultery
  • Homosexual activity

I found a great excerpt from a source, writing about what would happen if apostasy would take place in a country such as that, and I couldn’t put it more correctly myself:

“A woman who has just got back from a trip to the West (that’ll be the day!) has done a little reading and come to the conclusion that, y’know, religion is bullshit. She’s renounced her faith in Allah. She’s had enough of all the infighting, the violence, the bombs dropped and the bullets fired in the names of fictional deities. She’s now being dragged across a dusty courtyard, kicking and screaming, while hundreds of people look on. Some are spitting on her or throwing rocks. Others are watching with horror. The woman is thrown across a chopping block, held in place by two guards, while a third guard stands poised over her. He reads out the reasons for her sentence: “You don’t believe in our god anymore. Therefore, foul wench, you will die.” The executioner raises an axe dulled from the blood crusted on the blade. He brings it down, severing her head from her neck. Blood gushes everywhere. Now, even the rock throwers are struck silent. You, as a rational, evolved, logical primate, cry out with every fibre of your being at in protest at this awful and undignified way to die. You yearn for sanity to prevail. You wish there was someplace you could live free of this sort of thing.”

It really paints a picture in your mind, doesn’t it? One simple decision would change everything if you were living in a land with religious doctrine of law. Religion is not a source for morality; it’s rather the opposite of that. Its moral decadence or regression (if you will) to the human mind is the reason most of us, especially I, call it a virus to the brain.

There are duties and practices called “The Five Pillars of Islam”. These practices are essential to Sunni Islam, but the subscription is limited. The Shi’a Muslims have other pillars, which substantially overlap with the other ones. All Muslims are expected to follow them, and some are very demanding and quite extreme. These are The Five Pillars of Islam:

  1. The Shahadah is the basic creed of Islam, and must be recited under an oath with the specific statement: “I testify that there is none worthy of worship except God and I testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of God.” The phrase is also spoken into the ears of newborn babies as a proxy oath.
  2. Salah, ritual prayer, must be performed five times a day. This involves a series of prostrations facing the Kaaba in Mecca. It is seen as a personal communication to God that expresses graditude and worship.
  3. Zakat, which is the practice of giving based on your accumulated wealth. For all Muslims, this is obligatory (as opposed to voluntary charity) and no one can get out of this, unless they’re poor.
  4. Sawm, or Ramadan. According to it, you shall not eat or drink (among other things) from dusk to dawn during this month. Its purpose is simple; it is supposed to encourage a feeling of nearness to God. Of course, this is only the feeling of starvation ensuing.
  5. The Hajj. This is the pilgrimage to the holy cities of Mecca and Medina during the month of Dhul-Hijah. To perform the ritual, it’s required to circumambulate seven times around the Kaaba, touching the black stone, walking seven times between Mount Safa and Mount Marwah, and symbolically stoning the Devil in Mina.

Treatment of women in Islam

[Pickthal 2:223] “Your women are a tilth for you (to cultivate) so go to your tilth as ye will…”

They are referred to as “fields” for man to sow as they please. Women’s status in this religion manifests itself as a cruel and barbaric aberration. Muslim women and girls continue to be mutilated and killed for penalties under the rule of the Shari’a court. Although a virgin can’t be sentenced to death by breaking one of these laws, instead it says to rape her on the eve of execution. They do this to prevent her from going to a martyr’s heaven, which is granted to female virgins. To salt the wound, the prison guard marries the female prisoner before raping her, so he will be protected from going to hell, as they believe that’s where she is destined to arrive. The honor killings implied in the Qur’an are insatiable. What would Muhammad have done? Well, he was a child molester who married 11 times in his lifetime, so his opinion of women was pretty much set. Their “holy” book clearly states again and again, and again that men are superior to women, or “in charge.” Let’s stop being quiet when they toss acid in the faces of women for not wearing their head-to-toe burqas, which the sole purpose to is hiding the female body when out in public.

The dictionary description of feminism is “the belief that women should be allowed the same rights, power and opportunities as men and be treated in the same way, or the set of activities intended to achieve this state.” We should all be feminists, and in a descriptive sense, most rational people are.

Now that I’m signifying my leave, as my previous post, I’ll finish with a quote. He’s a television and film genius, an outspoken humanist, feminist and atheist and head writer of shows like Buffy, Angel, Firefly and Dollhouse. His name is Joss Whedon. Among all of his brilliant writing, we find that his advocation for women’s independence and equal rights shine a light on the strong female characters in his shows. At the Equality Now benefit in June 2006, he gave a phenomenal speech about just that:

“Equality is not a concept. It’s not something we should be striving for. It’s a necessity. Equality is like gravity. We need it to stand on this earth as men and women, and the misogyny that is in every culture is not a true part of the human condition. It is life out of balance, and that imbalance is sucking something out of the soul of every man and woman who’s confronted with it. We need equality. Kinda now.”

Scientology is here to rescue you!

“We are the very privileged owners of a brief spark of consciousness, and we therefore have to take responsibility for it.” — Ian McEwan

Today I’m going to write about another part of the topic. The name is Scientology. This must be the most vicious and debilitating cult yet. The harm it does to a person, weakening people’s minds by applying their demented psychotherapy (called “auditing”) so they can be brainwashed enough to reach the state of which they call “clear.” Scientologists follow the exclusively comprised teachings of one man; L. Ron Hubbard. He claimed to have discovered certain “natural laws” of the spiritual universe. Now, you must remember that he was a sci fi writer! This is what they teach the ones who have reached “clarity.” This is Scientology…

75.000.000 years ago the extraterrestrial emperor Xenu sent billions of his invisible spirits down to earth in a DC-8-like spacecraft to infest the humans, making them vulnerable to sorrows and illnesses, thus depriving them of their Godlike powers. Recovering these abilities is the participant’s primary goal. The “levels” they must progress is called “The Bridge to Total Freedom.” This, however, comes for the price of approximately $300.000 – $500.000 in US dollars, making it the singular most expensive cult in the world. Isn’t this a business rather than a religion?

“MAKE MONEY. MAKE MORE MONEY. MAKE OTHER PEOPLE PRODUCE SO AS TO MAKE MORE MONEY.” — L. Ron Hubbard, Hubbard Communications Office Policy Letter, 9 March 1972, MS OEC 384

Anyone thinking differently or even disagrees with this crackpot nonsense is automatically declared SP (“Suppressive Person”) and an enemy of Scientology. Gullibility is rewarded in other words. Once you are declared SP, no one within Scientology will or can speak with you, exept the International Justice Chief.

The information about Xenu is kept secret until the practicing individual reaches the level called “Operating Thetan III.” They are then deemed prepared to view this information. According to Scientology, exposure to details of this before going through the levels of preparation can cause severe illness or death. A Thetan in Scientology doctrine is described as an “immortal spiritual being; the human soul.” Hubbard defined a thetan once as: “… having no mass, no wave-length, no energy, no measurable qualities and no time or location in space except by consideration or postulate. The spirit is not a thing. It is the creator of things.” As religious demagogues do, he contradicts himself in his book (“The Phoenix Lectures”) where he implies that a thetan does manifest a measurable amount of mass:

“From some experiments conducted about fifteen or twenty years ago — a thetan weighed about 1.5 ounces [45 grams]! Who made these experiments? Well, a doctor made these experiments. He weighed people before and after death, retaining any mass. He weighed the person, bed and all, and he found that the weight dropped at the moment of death about 1.5 ounces [45 grams] and some of them 2 ounces [60 grams]. (Those were super thetans.)”

After hours of hard research, this blog finally happened! I hope people will open their eyes on the truth and close at the deception of religion. This post describes how Hubbard obviously was more of a madman than a Messiah. And what I advocate in these blogs are rational and critical thought, because we really are the privileged owners of a brief spark of consciousness. Until we die, that is all we have.

If not…

It must be the work of God!

Anyone who think they can talk to Jesus probably has a mental disorder. It’s called schizophrenia people! So-called ‘believers’ have the characteristics of abnormalities in the perception or expression of reality, manifesting auditory hallucinations, paranoid or bizarre delusions about some sky-daddy, waiting for a miracle instead of doing something productive to progress their own life.

Neurobiologists could very confidently diagnose a ‘believer’ as misfiring or damage of the frontal lobe, which may affect critical thinking and/or problem solving skills. It’s probably why most call it the God ‘virus’. Actually, ‘The God Virus’, a book by author and psychologist Dr. Darrel Ray, delves deeper into the psychological decease that goes beyond analogy, offering a fascinating look at the wiggling, maddening virus itself. Because I’m not a neuroscientist, I’ll stop there.

Jesus Camp is one very disturbing topic; Indoctrination at the time of childhood can be described as ‘just an easy thing to do’, as a child’s mind is fragile to poisoning. Labeling children as ‘christian child’, ‘jewish child’ or ‘muslim child’ is simply child abuse, because there is no such thing! And if the contents of the Bible is described as facts, it’s as if teaching a child about Santa Claus to exceed innocence. It’s the equal measure of insanity to think that fairies are real, because both are stories about something radically inspired by fantasy, none of it remotely proven! Isn’t this just a shrug of the shoulders, an ‘I don’t know’ to your ignorant self?  Isn’t it time to grow up and stop believing in Santa Claus?

“All religions are crazy, but they’re not all equally violent.” — Bill Maher
Few can argue that Islam is the most violent religion there is.
According to the Qur’an:

In the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, who created –
created man, out of a mere clot of congealed blood.”
— Sura 96:1-2

To think that you’re but a mere clot of blood? This is obviously not a healthy start of consciousness. Of course, that’s only one ingredient in the happy-time mix:

“It is he who has created man from water ”
— Sura 25:54

“And God has created every living creature from water.”
— Sura 24:45

“We created man from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape.”
— Sura 15:26

“Amongst his signs is this, that he created you from dust.”
— Sura 30:20

Blood? Water? Clay? Dust? Whoops, that’s of course scientifically wrong.

What makes an extremist? Osama bin Laden used quotes from the Qur’an to justify his declaration of war on Pervez Musharraf and the Pakistani army. Such it is translated:

“O prophet! Strive hard against the disbelievers and the hypocrites, and be harsh against them. Their abode is hell, and an evil destination it is.”
[Qur’an 9:73]
“O you who believe! Take not the Jews and Christians for your friends and protectors: they are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them is of them. Verily Allah guides not a people unjust.”
[Qur’an 5:51]

The problem here is that religion can be used to justify everything! So, what makes an extremist?

You can be a believer and at the same time accept evolution. But isn’t this, to quote Richard Dawkins: “having your cake and eating it too?”. Isn’t it only intertwining contradictions? The answer is yes. Cake is of course good tasting, but not always good for you. Of the few positive sides of religion, it can make you feel good about your existence. It isn’t healthy to think ‘what makes you feel good is good’, because if you believe that, you’re probably not a healthy person.

It’s funny how obsessed religion is with sex! What we do with our bodies in intercourse is a sin… unless you’re married… no, wait… even though you’re married… sodomy and child rape is a sin… unless you’re catholic… The list goes on and on, and I could rant about this all day!

Religion started somewhere, and the most crazy ones seem to be the most popular; Mormonism originated in the presumably ostentatious mind of Joseph Smith. Christianity, Judaism and the Muslim faith originated from the Old Testament, which is the most violent of them all, as it advocates murder, slavery, rape, incest et cetera; In a very little nutshell- a riveting good read. But somebody thought of candy-coding it a little bit. So, when we have proof that the New Testament, the Hebrew Bible and the Holy Quran are rip-offs, why is it we still blindly believe? There are so many answers to that question. It would be pretentious of me to claim full knowledge of it, so I’ll leave it to the professional, Dr. Andy Thomson:

Atheists will at least agree with certain aspects in this blog, agnostics will consider it, theists will deny it hands down, like atheists also deny the existence of God or Gods. I write this blog because no one should be subjected to this virus any longer! Religion should not be above the law! The front page news about the child molestations and catholic priests going free taken into mind, the fact of the matter is that they are… Nothing good will come of the 21st century by shutting up about this very topic!
